The Adventures of Tintin. Temple of the Sun
Tintin and Captain Haddock arrive in Peru. They believe that Professor Tournesol is on board the cargo ship Pachacamac. However, upon arrival at the port, the ship is immediately quarantined. Despite the captain's warnings, Tintin sneaks on board and finds the professor fast asleep. Tintin himself is almost captured, but jumps overboard in time. He sees how the Indians transport Tournesol to the shore and take him by train into the interior of the country. Our friends understand that the only chance to save the professor is to follow the kidnappers. The trouble is that this requires a guide, and the local population does not even want to talk to strangers. Fortunately, Tintin soon meets an Indian boy named Zorrino, who agrees to take them to the Temple of the Sun.
"The Adventures of Tintin" is a world-famous comic book series by Belgian artist Georges Remi (1907-1983), who worked under the pseudonym Hergé. Risking his life, the brave reporter Tintin investigates mysterious events, but emerges victorious from all troubles. And no matter what happens, his faithful friend, the snow-white fox terrier Milou, is always by his side.
The format of the dilogy, tested by the "pirate" story ("The Secret of the Unicorn" and "The Treasure of Red Rakkam"), turned out to be so successful that Hergé also decided to make the next "Indian" adventure of Tintin in two volumes. The sequel to "The 7 Crystal Balls" was first published in a magazine version (Tintin Weekly, 1946-1947), from which Hergé threw out more than 300 frames for a separate book edition in 1949: in his opinion, they only weighed down the narrative. In addition, the magazine version had the so-called Italian, that is, horizontally stretched format, which greatly changed the approach to the storyboard. However, several years ago the magazine version (in a luxury edition, on "vintage" paper) was also released as an independent album. It is believed that one of the main sources of inspiration for Hergé in his work on The Temple of the Sun was the adventure novel The Bride of the Sun (L'Épouse du soleil, 1912) by Gaston Leroux (1868–1927).
