New Year's Tangram

Here is a New Year's selection of tasks for an old puzzle called tangram. This puzzle has been known for more than 2000 years, and you can find many tasks for it on the Internet. Of course, you can solve them not only in winter, but at any other time of the year.

What's different about this tangram book? We show you how you can cut out your own tangram from any square piece of paper. What's more, we suggest not cutting out all 7 pieces at once, but starting with two, gradually making it more difficult.

First, we cut the square into 2 identical triangles. Even from these two parts we can assemble a Christmas tree, a parallelogram, and a large triangle. Full-size diagrams are provided for these tasks so that you can solve problems by superposition, applying your 2 triangles to the gray diagram.

Having practiced with two triangles, we complicate our puzzle. We divide one of the triangles in half. Now we have a large triangle and two smaller ones. What can we assemble from them? A house, an arrow, a rectangle... And how can we assemble a square from these three parts?

So gradually we increase the number of pieces in our puzzle - and each time we assemble something new. And finally we have all 7 pieces of the tangram puzzle in our hands. We can assemble from them a dozen different Christmas trees, several different candies and a bunch of different candles and little people.

We start with large tasks, and then we can try to assemble them using smaller schemes.

The good thing about tangram is that you can come up with and draw your own tasks.
