Old Lady Lizzie and Miao-Mursi

The collection by the famous American children's writer, screenwriter and animator of the Walt Disney Studio Bill Peet includes two fairy tales: "Old Lizzie and the Meow-Mursi" and "A Story That Will Make Your Hair Stand on End".

Old Lizzie, a once fashionable and famous car, was sadly rusting in a junkyard. The same fate awaited her as all old cars: they are unscrewed and sold off in parts. However, Lizzie was luckier: her engine turned out to be a lively one, and the owner of the junkyard sold Lizzie to a big guy with two suitcases and, as it turned out later, a crazy lover of fast driving. As a bonus, he got a stray cat named Myao-Mursi. Seeing that her mobile home was leaving, Myao-Mursi jumped in the window and lay down on the back seat. Thus began a journey that could well have been the last, if not for the fortitude of the old car and the common sense of the skinny cat.

Eduard the lion was proud of his luxurious mane and looked down on others. But fate loves to laugh at the conceited, and just one small evil spark turned the object of his pride into a flaming bush. Together with his mane, the king of beasts lost his confidence. Now he wanted only one thing - to fall through the ground. Alas, he could not hide, the old gossip crow Curry noticed the poor fellow, and soon the whole savannah was discussing the shameful secret of the bald lion. Contrary to Eduard's fears, the sight of his head, bare as a knee, caused sincere sympathy in the animals. Everyone vied with each other to offer their own solutions to such a delicate problem, but only the elephant was able to move from words to deeds. And go alone to the swamp for a magic medicine - crocodile tears.
