Blue Kangaroo

Blue Kangaroo
The collection "Blue Kangaroo" includes four colorful stories by British artist Emma Chichester Clark about a girl named Lila and her best friend, the Blue Kangaroo.
In the first story, which is called "Blue Kangaroo! Hello!", Lilya manages to lose her pet three times in three days - on the playground, on the bus and at the zoo. It's good that there are kind, caring people around who return him to his clumsy owner. But when Blue Kangaroo finds out that Lilya is going to take him to the river, his patience runs out and he hides from her himself. The whole family searches for Blue Kangaroo - first in the house, then in the garden. And Blue Kangaroo quietly sits in the pocket of Lilya's robe and waits for Lilya to find him. Everything ends well, but now, if Lilya goes somewhere, she puts Blue Kangaroo in her "bag" on her belt. So he will never get lost!
In the second story, “It’s All Blue Kangaroo’s Fault!” Lilya blames all her mischief on Blue Kangaroo. Did someone leave the tap on in the kitchen? Scared the cat? Hurt little brother Jack? Threw things out the window? Blue Kangaroo is to blame for everything! “If that’s the case, let him be alone and think about his behavior,” decides Mom and puts Blue Kangaroo on the cupboard, where Lilya can’t reach. At night, sitting on the cupboard, Blue Kangaroo thinks about how to apologize for both himself and Lilya. And one thought comes to his mind…
In the third story, “One, two, three! Blue Kangaroo, look!” Lilya does all sorts of things to get attention. And she doesn’t listen when she’s told, “Lilya, that’s enough! Stop!” And Blue Kangaroo has to watch her antics. In the end, because of Lilya’s latest trick, he turns from a silent spectator into a direct participant. He ends up in a tree, hanging on to a branch, holding on with all his might, and then breaks off and falls from a height to the ground. There’s darkness all around, and a hole in his tail! In the morning, Lilya sees her pet with a bandaged tail and happily rushes to him. But her mother says that she won’t give her Blue Kangaroo until she sees that Lilya can be good and obedient. Lilya tries to behave well all day long, and in the evening she promises her mother and Blue Kangaroo that she won’t do any more antics!
In the fourth story, "Blue Kangaroo, Think of a Game for Me!" Lilya draws dinosaurs, holds a tea party for stuffed animals on the lawn, reads a book to Blue Kangaroo, saves her toys from the rain, helps her dad calm down her little brother Jack - and she does all this herself! And Blue Kangaroo looks at her and thinks: "What a good game!"
Blue Kangaroo is not a simple toy. He helps Lilya, and with her the little reader, to look at themselves from the outside. And by his example he suggests how to act correctly in a given situation.
