This edition includes two novels by the classic of world fantasy and adventure literature Jules Verne. In "Journey to the Center of the Earth" (1864), the German scientist Otto Lidenbrock, a professor of mineralogy from Hamburg, finds a manuscript with runic writings in an ancient Icelandic book, having deciphered which he and his nephew Axel become the owners of an incredible secret. According to the author of the manuscript, the 16th-century alchemist Arne Saknussemm, the globe is hollow inside and in its center there is a mysterious world unknown to people, which can be penetrated through the crater of the extinct Icelandic volcano Snæfells. Lidenbrock and Axel set off into the depths of the earth, unaware of the incredible discoveries, amazing encounters and deadly trials that await them there... Around the World in Eighty Days (1872) is a story familiar to us from childhood from numerous (sometimes very free) film adaptations of an 80-day journey through various countries and continents, undertaken as a result of an unusual bet by the eccentric London gentleman Phileas Fogg, his French servant Jean Passepartout and the detective Fix pursuing them... In this edition, the novels are illustrated by the remarkable Czech artist Ventseslav Cerny (1865-1936) and the Russian master of book graphics Petr Lugansky (1911-1993).
