Cookies for Christmas
Cookies for Christmas
Christmas was approaching. A hazel dormouse named Sonya Oreshkina was busy preparing for the holiday. She had just finished cleaning and was going to bake her favorite cookies, but it turned out that there were no necessary products in her pantry. "What if I run to the neighbors?" thought the little dormouse. "Maybe they can help out?"
In the trunk of the thick tree where Sonya had built her house, there were many other residents: Mrs. Dyatlova with her family, and Squirrel, and Ferret, and Mrs. Myshkina, and Mother Hedgehog, and Uncle Raccoon. They were all preparing for the holiday, too – cleaning, decorating their homes, waiting for guests, and bustling about in the kitchen. Everyone’s head was spinning, everyone needed help. Sonya helped each of the neighbors with their chores, and they, in turn, wholeheartedly offered the main character everything she needed for her cookies. And when Sonya finally baked them, she invited everyone to her place for tea. The neighbors celebrated Christmas joyfully and amicably at the common table.
This is a warm story about good neighborliness, mutual assistance, caring and the spirit of the main winter holiday. At the end of the book, readers will find a simple recipe for delicious cookies that the whole family can make.
