Nowadays everything is the other way around
Nowadays everything is the other way around
An exclusive new release in the popular series by Azbuka Publishing House – “Children’s Library. Big Books”. The second collection of works by Yuri Tomin in this series, including the best stories about school life. The collection includes the author’s early stories and “The Tale of Atlantis” (1959), as well as the stories “Borka, Me and the Invisible Man” (1962), “Nowadays Everything is the Other Way Around” (1968), and “Vitka Murash, the Conqueror of All” (1974). Sixth-grader Kostya Shmel, the main character of the story “Borka, Me and the Invisible Man”, is a witty dreamer who drives his teachers to a nervous breakdown. However, as his dad says, it is not Kostya himself who is to blame, but the invisible man. He sits inside and pushes Kostya to do bad things, for which he can even be expelled from school. Three friends from the story "Nowadays Everything is the Other Way Around" - Slavik, Yurka and Galka - know very well that children are forbidden to break glass, burn vacuum cleaners or boil daddy's watch. And yet, if you have already accidentally done any of the above, then it is better not to hide at all, not to run away from the answer, and not to listen to your parents at all. The heroes of Siberian stories and short stories - Vitka Murashov and Yura Alenov - are tireless dreamers whose souls thirst for real adventures. But the discoveries that they have to make are not so much about geography, as about finding themselves and growing up. Each story told by Tomin, starting as an ironic comedy, turns into a parable. Studying at school becomes a real school of life. The relationship between teachers and students is a test of the intra-family ties between fathers and children. What do parents know about their children? Do adults accept their children as they are - both pranksters and excellent students? In each story, young readers, together with the heroes, find themselves in difficult life situations, after which everyone - both children and adults - becomes wiser. Yuri Tomin's stories have repeatedly become the basis for films. In 1982, based on the story "Now Everything Is the Other Way Around", the film "It All Started with a Cat..." was released, directed by Yuri Oksanchenko.
