This book is the first of a trilogy about Matthias and his friends. Its author is Barbro Lindgren. The writer's talent was discovered by Astrid Lindgren, her namesake. The series about Matthias was Barbro's debut; stories about him were published by Raben & Sjogren, where Astrid worked as an editor. Since then, the books have been translated into thirty languages and published in the USSR and Russia. Barbro herself became a laureate of the prestigious Hans Christian Andersen Prize and... her namesake Astrid.
