Climate. How it all works

Climate. How it all works
Every child understands what the weather is. Just look out the window and it becomes clear: today is cold and foggy or, on the contrary, clear and windy. Prudent people look at the forecast every day: if a rainy day is expected, it is better to grab a raincoat and go by bus, and when the sun is shining, you can put on a dress or shorts and a T-shirt and go to school by bike.
But what is climate and why do we need to know about it? In this book, we will travel back in time millions of years, descend to the bottom of the oceans, penetrate the depths of the earth and fly into outer space - and all this in order to find out how the amazing climate machine works. We will try to understand what the water cycle and the carbon cycle are, how winds, waves, currents and clouds are born, what ancient secrets the ice holds and where weather forecasts come from. We will learn what a huge role the climate plays in the history of our planet and in the fate of all living beings on it, and what catastrophes its abrupt changes can lead to. And a variety of scientists will help us with this - meteorologists, oceanologists, volcanologists, paleoclimatologists - because they all study the climate, its past, present and future.
