Gleb, who recently transferred to a new school, the lazy straight-A student Yura Karasev, and Lena Zyuzina, who is bogged down in household chores, see some advantages in repeating yesterday and the day before yesterday's events. They can rewrite the final test, avoid a fight with a bully, or even spend all their pocket money on a treat without a twinge of conscience - after all, in the morning the bills and coins will be back in their wallet!
But the further the schoolchildren are from May 23, the weaker their hope of returning to the future - and how can you erase an inscription that you will make only a week later? An excursion to an archaeological find, supposedly related to the Mayan civilization, became the beginning of an adventure for three children, a story about which will not convince any adult. Or will there be someone who will believe them?
The teenage story "May's Calendar" is Victoria Lederman's debut work, which immediately gained success: the children's jury of the V. Krapivin competition awarded her a special prize (2014). The author masterfully shows how the characters of boys and girls, outcasts and egoists, change under the influence of a common misfortune. Fantastic episodes add up to a real upbringing novel, fascinating and not overgrown with moralizing, and many details of the characters' lives make the world of the book familiar and close to any teenager.
