Squirrels Fun and Duk were making faces at each other when a nut popped out of the ground. An argument immediately broke out between the brothers: who saw the nut first and whose it was. All the neighbors came running to the noise. Uncle Badger suggested having a race. The other animals also wanted to participate, having learned that the winner would receive a nut as a reward. But the nut turned out to be not an ordinary one, but a magic one. It appeared and then disappeared in the most unexpected places. And it completely confused the animals, forcing them to forget about the race.
From the first to the last page, this story keeps the child in suspense. The kid watches how Fung and Duk quarrel and argue, how Olik the rabbit and Hedgehog try to be cunning, how Uncle Badger tries to restore order and judge fairly. The adult already guesses what kind of mounds of earth grow in the grass and who is hiding under the nut shell, but the child is just learning about the world and amazing discoveries await him ahead.
English writer Catherine White managed to come up with a fascinating story that has everything: fights, chases, sudden appearances and disappearances, miraculous rescues and general jubilation.
