One of the main features of The Secret Life of Viruses is the humor with which the book is written and the naturalness with which all topics are discussed.
Here you can see the first spread of the book, where we are greeted by a charming virus that has many friends hiding in every corner. For example, in a toy boat in the bathtub and even in food.
Page after page, we will discover how strong viruses are, how they arise, how they multiply, and which ones we encounter all the time. Among them, we will find the famous coronavirus (Sars-Cov-2), which says: "Whether you like it or not, you already know who I am."
We will learn how viruses reproduce, how they attack our body and how it defends itself. And, of course, the book will explain to us what a pandemic is.
The incredibly interesting part of the book is the one that tells about the history of viruses in the human body. We learn that viruses already existed on Earth long before humans appeared and affected insects 300 million years ago, and also that in the Neolithic era, when the first settlements began to emerge, the first pandemics occurred.
Also wonderful is the truth/false game that we find at the end of the book, thanks to which we will repeat most of the material we have learned.
The book is very easy to read, although it contains very precise and up-to-date information. This is a great merit of the beautiful illustrations of Mariana Tolosa Cisterre, who in this case worked together with the team of "Ellas educan" on the editing of the content.
