The Adventures of Tintin. The Treasure of Red Rakkam
In "The Treasure of Red Rakkam", the reader will find a continuation of Tintin's eleventh adventure. In the previous part of the duology, "The Secret of the Unicorn", he managed to decipher the ancient parchments of Chevalier François da Addoc and establish the exact coordinates of the place where the ship commanded by this glorious ancestor of Captain Haddock was wrecked. In the second part, Tintin and Captain Haddock charter the trawler Sirius and set off in search of the treasure of Red Rakkam, the leader of the pirates. According to their information, the jewels are still on board the frigate "Unicorn", which sank at the end of the 17th century near a small tropical island. The eccentric Professor Tournesol gets on board the Sirius with his new invention - a miniature submarine. The hard of hearing professor irritates the captain terribly, but it is Tournesol who is destined to play a key role in the upcoming expedition...
"The Adventures of Tintin" is a world-famous comic book series by Belgian artist Georges Remi, who worked under the pseudonym Hergé. Investigating mysterious events, the young reporter Tintin finds himself in the "hot spots" of the planet, where important events take place. Hergé's stories are full of secrets, mysteries and unexpected turns. Danger lurks at every step of his hero. But thanks to his wits, courage and resourcefulness, Tintin emerges victorious from any trouble. And no matter what happens, his faithful snow-white fox terrier Milou is always nearby.
The Treasure of Red Rakkam occupies a special place in the series. Firstly, according to official statistics, it is the best-selling volume of The Adventures of Tintin in the world; secondly, it is the first time Professor Tournesol appears (see below); and thirdly, it marked the beginning of Hergé’s short-lived but extremely fruitful collaboration with Edgar Pierre Jacobs (1904–1978), the future author of Blake and Mortimer.
