Anya and Varya Kendel are Russian artists, twin sisters who love to travel and create illustrations for books together. In 2021, Anya spent five months on the shores of Lake Baikal, and two years before that, she kayak 400 kilometers along the western shore. It was on that trip that the idea of ​​making a book about Baikal was born. The project won the Samokat publishing house's "Book Inside" competition in 2019.
