Fairy tales (Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin)
Fairy tales (Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin)
The world of a child is unthinkable without the fairy tales of A. S. Pushkin. One of the first to turn to illustrating them was the “chief children’s artist of the USSR”, who headed the art department of the publishing house “Children’s Literature” for more than 30 years, Boris Aleksandrovich Dekhterev (1908-1993). The artist’s first drawings were made in 1946 – for the upcoming jubilee three-volume edition of the poet’s works. The edition included three drawings for each of the fairy tales “About Tsar Saltan”, “About the Dead Princess” and “About the Fisherman and the Fish”. A little later, in a collection of fairy tales for children, B. Dekhterev extensively illustrated “The Dead Princess” and “The Tale of the Priest” with pen. And a short time later, a large series of pencil drawings was prepared for all five fairy tales. The color drawings included in this collection date back to the period 1949-1957. Collected together, they are published in a separate edition for the first time.
