The Last Sheep
The Last Sheep
Seven hilariously clumsy and diverse sheep are left without shepherds for the first time in their lives and learn that a baby has been born in a nearby village who will supposedly save everyone. The sheep decide not to wait for the shepherds to return and set off on their own to look for the barn where the wonderful child was born. But they don't know how to act independently - either together or separately - and they don't really have a clear idea of who exactly to visit and why. They also can't count each other properly so that no one gets lost along the way.
In his new book, Ulrich Hub, the renowned German children's writer and author of the bestseller "The Ark Leaves at Eight," once again turns to the biblical story, interpreting it with exceptional humor. The book's heroines - a sheep with a plaster cast, a sheep with a side parting, a sheep with a dental plate and their friends - discuss whether it is worth giving a newborn a gift certificate to a store and how best to tell the shepherds that things made of sheep's wool are no longer in fashion. This short but incredibly funny book briefly touches on the topics of plastic pollution of the planet and gender equality, but the main focus is on theological issues: searching, faith in miracles and love for one's neighbor.
