Colette, like many children, dreams of having a pet. She has just moved into a new house and has not yet made any friends. She is bored and lonely. So when two boys appear near the house, she decides to invent a parrot. A pet parrot that flew away from her.
The story of Colette's missing pet spreads around the neighborhood, almost becoming a legend. All the kids in the neighborhood join in the search for the parrot. That's how you can quickly make friends when you have a fantastic pet.
This book tells about the boundless imagination of children, about kindness, compassion, selfless help, and also about friendship. The story is simple and understandable for a child, but it would not be superfluous to discuss it. While reading the book, ask questions:
- What would you have done if you were in Colette's place?
- Did she do well or not? Why?
- What kind of pet would you invent and why?
- What do you think friends are for? Who is your friend?
- Why do we need to help each other?
- After reading the book, ask your child to come up with his own pet and a story about it.
When reading, use the "finger method" - point to the frame in which the action is currently taking place, and to the characters if you are reading direct speech. This method develops the child's attentiveness, imagination, and logical ability to build a story based on a picture.
When reading again, give the book to the young reader. Let him point out the characters himself. Comics are similar to cartoons, so it will be easier for children to start reading with their help. This comic will teach your child how to handle a book and will help to awaken an interest in reading.
