" The Father Christmas Letters " is a story that Tolkien told his children over more than twenty years (the first letter was written to his eldest son in 1920 and the last to his daughter in 1943). The letters arrived at Christmas and the children answered them. Father Christmas described his home, his friends and helpers, and the funny and sometimes disturbing events that happened at the North Pole.
