Petka

Genrikh Knizhnik wrote an incomparable humorous story about how a pampered city boy, Petka, who was under the super-care of his mother and grandmother, ends up in a village, where many funny, instructive, and sometimes dramatic adventures happen to him.
Petka's dad, who not without reason believed that his mother and grandmother were raising a "lapdog" out of the boy, managed by hook or by crook to send his son to the village for the summer. And there Petka - fat, naive, homely, absolutely ignorant of life outside the walls of a city apartment and constantly getting into trouble because of this - thanks to new friends and unexpected circumstances, he himself becomes a reliable friend, acquires fortitude of character and gains a variety of life experiences.
The book is read in one breath from the first to the last word. Genrikh Knizhnik is a master of a gripping plot - he does not let the reader "relax" for a minute. The text is incredibly fascinating, funny and, at the same time, lyrical. The author loves his Petka very much, empathizes with him and is proud of his village exploits. And this author's admiration greatly decorates the book.
I would especially like to note the wonderful literary language of Heinrich the Bookman.
Artist Gennady Yasinsky "caught" the author's wave and drew exactly the Petka and other characters as they appear to readers from the pages of the book.
Recommended for children of senior preschool and primary school age. Thanks to the large font and energetic plot, the book is good for independent reading.
