One morning in 1271, seven strange pilgrims set foot on the Holy Land. Seven with incredible stories to tell. Seven who had made the transition from life to non-life. Steven Desberg, the author of the comic strip "The Unliving", tells us the story of seven pilgrims heading to Jerusalem in search of a miracle cure that will help them return to their former appearance. The action takes place in the Middle Ages during the Crusades. Our heroes, a kind of ghosts, must unite if they want to become alive again. A young squire thrown into prison and "wakes up" five years later as a "ghost". A little "witch" burned at the stake, now black as coal. A womanizing parrot, disfigured by other males... These are some of the main characters whose stories are grippingly told in the first volume.

Alexander Utkin's illustrations are striking in their execution technique and stunning color. The drawings fit perfectly into the bizarre world created by Steven Desberg. The artist creates a special gloomy atmosphere that only emphasizes the medieval times, diluting them with bright landscapes.
