Mouse House. Sammy and Julia at the Port

Many readers know the Myshkin House - a large building with many, many apartments, shops and even small factories. Karina Schapman used it as a setting for her first book about the Myshkin House. For each subsequent book she built new sets, and soon the Myshkin Theatre, Myshkin Circus and Myshkin Amusement Park appeared. With the publication of this new book about the port, the Myshkin House grew so much that it turned into a whole city, with streets, canals, alleys and piers.
The mouse house is built from cardboard boxes, all sorts of scraps and papier-mâché. The port and water are made from the same materials. The ships, boats and rafts are made from paper and cardboard, and the beautiful bridge is made from popsicle sticks.
Each book tells about a different ancient profession. This one shows a rope workshop where children can see how ropes are woven. They will also learn about the custom of racing on pieremachochels. This is an old tradition that is still alive and well today: races on homemade rafts and boats are regularly held in various Dutch cities.
The brave mice, Sammy and Julia, who were loved by children from previous books, also wanted to take part in this unusual competition. Will the friends be able to build a raft with their own hands and will they win a prize? Little readers will again be treated to amazing stories that happened to Sammy and Julia.
