The whaler Pequod sets out on a long voyage. On board is a motley crew of sailors of different races and nationalities. But the sea hunters are about to find out that the main goal of their ship's captain, Ahab, is not whale oil and spermaceti oil. His heart is burning with the fire of vengeance. He is hunting for the legendary and dangerous albino whale Moby Dick, who deprived Ahab of a leg on one of his previous voyages.
Herman Melville, who had experience as a whaler, describes the life of whale hunters in detail and with expertise. With the passion of an inquisitive discoverer, he tells about the ocean and its inhabitants. But behind the living details and characters grows a tragedy of biblical proportions, where the novel's heroes face questions of the highest order: about life and death, good and evil.
Anton Lomaev's illustrations have already graced the English, French, Chinese, Lithuanian and Russian editions of Moby Dick. Especially for this book, published by Loreta, in addition to the previous illustrations, the artist made forty new drawings that will help the reader immerse themselves in the exciting world of the great novel.
