The best book for early reading is, without a doubt, a fairy tale, presented briefly and clearly, with bright and understandable pictures for the child.

The tale of the cunning fox, the timid hare, his unlucky protectors the wolf, the bull and the bear, and the heroic cockerel, with illustrations by the greatest master of children's illustration, Yuri Vasnetsov, is read and shown to children from a very early age.

The artist has drawn expressive and memorable characters. The thrifty and hardworking little hare stores cabbage and carrots for the winter, and makes a warm hut with an axe; but the little fox, despite her resourceful mind, miscalculated: instead of a warm house made of popular prints, she built herself a "crystal palace" of snow and ice.

Vasnetsov creates an attractive fairy-tale world around the main characters, which looks real thanks to additional details. These are huts, a stove, and smoke from the chimney; sheepskin coats that the characters are wearing, felt boots on the bunny's paws, a rowan tree covered with large berries, household items - a shovel, a ladder, a basket. No less expressive are the bunny's hapless helpers - a wolf, a bull and a bear. But the brave cockerel with a real sabre on his shoulder is especially good.

Such drawings captivate the child, focus his attention, help him learn new words and images, and evoke an emotional response.

The book is recommended for children from the first year of life for repeated viewing of beautiful pictorial illustrations, as well as for reading and discussing the fairy tale with the help of adults.
