The English writer Edith Nesbit (1858-1924), along with Lewis Carroll and Clive S. Lewis, is considered one of the founders of modern children's fairy tale literature, and her witty, lively and imagination-stirring tales have long been recognized as classics. The magical world created by the writer is as real as it gets, but in this reality no one is surprised by miracles: here dragons can fall straight from the sky, and the North Pole can one day "move" to the neighborhood next door.

This book includes five fairy tales about dragons, retold from English by the famous poet and translator Leonid Yakhnin. And the illustrations for them were created by the St. Petersburg artist Elena Zhukovskaya.
