History of the year
History of the year
Andersen's fairy tale "The Story of the Year" is very beautiful and lyrical, but little known to the Russian reader. This fairy tale was mainly published in collections and complete works of the great Danish storyteller. In the publishing house "Nigma" it is published as a separate work, in a gift design and with atmospheric illustrations by the artist Anna Hopta.
In September 2019, Nigma published Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale "Twelve Passengers" with illustrations by Anna Hopta. The book became a bestseller and was included in the top list of the Non/fiction International Fair of Intellectual Literature. The new book will be a wonderful pair to that edition.
The main character of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale "The Story of the Year" is nature, which changes its appearance with the change of seasons.
One day an old sparrow noticed that the New Year comes with the arrival of spring. And spring comes when the storks arrive. Two storks bring children on their backs - a boy and a girl. The children grow, and nature comes to life, filling with strength. Flowers bloom, groves turn green, the sun warms the earth... Summer comes, the young man becomes a stately man, and the girl - a beautiful woman, his wife. Fruits fill with juice, ears of grain turn yellow... Finally, the forests are dressed in gold, cold weather sets in, and the wife of the ruler of the year retires. And he himself, now a gray-haired old man, covers the earth with snow and looks into the distance from a high hill, patiently awaiting the arrival of a new couple...
