Wild Cities

This book is a story about wild species of plants and animals that "live" in different cities of Russia next to humans. The city is surrounded by the landscape and is part of it. Of course, you won't see a brown bear in the center of Ufa, whales are rare guests in Vladivostok itself, and admiring a blooming lady's slipper in Moscow is a rare stroke of luck. But how can we not tell about these amazing species that live, if not in the city itself, then nearby?

The city is not only dense development. Urbanization is also the development of cities, society itself, but above all, the spread of the urban way of life. Therefore, the ecoduct across the highway to the airport, the reservoir that supplies the city with water and energy, corn fields and apple orchards - all this is part of the cultural landscape. It is here that we encounter representatives of wild nature.

Man does not simply live next to wildlife, he actively interacts with it. You will get acquainted with biomimicry and learn how scientists, engineers and architects create new forms and materials by observing wildlife. You will discover birdwatching and understand why it is so important to preserve biodiversity in the city. You will also be able to look into a botanical garden or a natural science museum and understand how everything works.
