This fairy tale was written and drawn by Bill Peet (1915–2002), a famous American artist, screenwriter, and writer whose books have been published in different languages ​​for over half a century. Before becoming a writer, Bill Peet worked for many years as an animator at Walt Disney Studios and participated in the creation of legendary full-length cartoons such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and many others.

Bill Peet is one of those wise and subtle storytellers to whom the world owes good people, because with his stories he knows how to cheerfully and without excessive moralizing awaken good feelings in the reader. Bill Peet gives each character a bright personality, expressive facial expressions and a special expression, so that the heroes on the pages of his books seem to come to life, like in a real cartoon.
