Catherine's War
" Catherine's War " is a graphic novel about the war, in which there is not a single war scene. The story of the occupation of France is told from the point of view of a Jewish girl who was forced to change her name and seek refuge from the Nazis in different parts of the country. Of all the valuable things she has with her, only a camera. She captures all the people who have sheltered her, and thus compiles a gallery of testimonies about the Second World War. The lens of her camera focuses on goodness, and through it we see France in the 1940s through the eyes of a teenager growing up during the war.
Artist Claire Fauvel created the graphic novel "Catherine's War", inspired by the work of the same name by Julia Billet. In 2018, the authors received the Angoulême International Comics Festival Award, the most prestigious in this field.
