Wind in the Willows
Wind in the Willows
The author of this story, Kenneth Grahame (1859 - 1932), before becoming a world-famous writer, published several essays, memoirs about childhood and the story "The Lazy Dragon", which was made into a cartoon by the Disney studio in 1941.
K. Graham began writing the story "The Wind in the Willows" for his little son, a sickly, stubborn, disobedient child. It was he who became the prototype of Mr. Toad - an unbalanced, exalted Toad, who always involves his friends, and himself too, in dangerous adventures. The other main characters of the story - Badger, Mole and Uncle Rat - a water rat - are typical Englishmen: they love their home, real English comfort, a measured way of life. At the same time, often, as if against their will, they find themselves drawn into various scrapes, from which they invariably emerge victorious.
The story has been republished in different countries for almost 120 years, translated into many languages of the world. It was translated into Russian by several translators, this edition presents the translation of children's writer and translator Irina Tokmakova.
