Big wash

Writer Alexey Ivanovich Eremeyev (pseudonym L. Panteleyev) wrote unusual books. The fascinating plot always had a clear goal of the teacher: how to turn disobedient stubborn children into reasonable children, how to awaken good feelings in their hearts. Such is "The Big Wash" - a funny but instructive story about two disobedient sisters and their patient and wise mother.
Two sisters with completely different characters - the assertive, older Tamara and the timid, dependent, but honest Belochka - are left alone. Having violated their parents' prohibitions, they spill ink on a snow-white tablecloth. Trying to hide the result of their disobedience, they start washing. As a result, the entire tablecloth becomes inky, the trough with water overturns, and the water floods the entire floor.
The girls have a smart, good mother. Returning from the store, she finds her daughters in the midst of "cleaning up." Tamara wriggles to the last, and Belochka immediately repents. Mom does not lament the ruined tablecloth, she only condemns the girls for disobedience and cowardice.
The story begins with pretend work and ends with the girls washing, scrubbing, rinsing and drying together with their mother - like adults, for real.
Leonid Panteleev's wonderful story was brought to perfection by the artist Alexey Pakhomov, who brilliantly mastered the technique of pencil drawing. The little sisters (partially "copied" from the artist's daughters) - each with her own character, in action, in thought - are drawn cheerfully, without the condescension of an adult, with a deep knowledge of child psychology.
The book teaches kindness and honesty and will definitely please the little ones. Recommended for family reading and viewing of the wonderful illustrations made by the artist Alexey Fedorovich Pakhomov.
