Zhenya is a big little girl. On the one hand, she is the youngest in the family, even her beloved dachshund Vetka, and on the other hand, her mother has to stand on a stool every morning to braid her hair. In general, Zhenya is just like all the other seven-year-old girls. She can't stand being looked at or considered special. She can peel potatoes so that the skin turns into thin long ribbons. She can sew on buttons - almost as beautifully as her dad. And she is also great at telling different stories - because something interesting happens to her all the time...
In the tenth book, "Pushkin and Company," Zhenya and her friends learn a lot about... Pushkin! Yes, that same one, Alexander Sergeevich. "How much more can we say about Pushkin? Everything about him has been known for a long time!" - you might say. But no! And Sonya, the great-granddaughter of a Pushkin scholar, knows things about him that are unknown to almost anyone. For example, did you know that in Pushkin's time there were not likes, like on Facebook, but kid gloves? And that when Pushkin lost his inspiration, he went to the kitchen and made mayonnaise? And that he wiped a dirty window with his sock to get a better look at nature? That's right, they didn't know! But Sonya knows EVERYTHING about Pushkin. Once she even decided to play "Prisoner." She took an old bicycle lock, fastened herself to the window, entered the code... And then forgot it! So what should she do now? After all, Sonya urgently needs to do seven good deeds for her mother and write a whole essay about it. How to open the lock? It's good that Sonya has friends! Zhenya and Mishka have to decipher the code, which, of course, is also about Pushkin - the treasured three numbers from his life...
Maria Bershadskaya's books about a big little girl tell about Zhenya, who has grown taller than the world's tallest basketball player, and about how great and how difficult it is to be different from others. Throughout the twelve books, Zhenya is still growing - she is changing, maturing. Dad tells her that every person, even if they have already grown up, still has some internal growth. Zhenya does not yet quite understand what she needs to do for this growth that is inside. Walk in the rain? Sing songs? Eat some useful nastiness? We have not understood this either, but maybe after reading these twelve stories, we will also grow a little?
"Pushkin and Company" is already the tenth book in the series about the big little girl.
The first story about Zhenya, "How to Tame the City", became the best book of 2013 according to Papmambook.
