This is a fantasy story in which our world and the world of elves, unicorns and other fairy-tale creatures are intertwined.
The author of the book has lived in Tallinn for many years. In the 90s, she became interested in studying Eastern philosophies, as well as myths, epics and tales of the peoples of Russia. The mystical atmosphere of the ancient city inspired Irina Thaler to create this story: "Medieval Tallinn itself is a wonderful backdrop, and if you look at the city walls through the prism of legends, amazing stories begin to be born in your head," says Irina. "Over time, I wanted to write a book for children, where the heroes of ancient epics would become equal participants in modern characters. This is how the story of Yuri and his friends appeared."
Yuri is an ordinary boy, most of all he likes to spend time with friends and ride a bike. But one day everything suddenly changes - the boy buys a skillful craft from a mysterious master, who turns out to be... a magical living creature, an elf, and she really needs his help.
Together with his new friend, Yuri finds himself in a wonderful world inhabited by refined elves, skilled gnomes, little elfids and forest guardians - pompili - but a real danger hangs over this world. Together with the inhabitants of the magical land, Yuri decides to stand up for its defense - although he is not as brave and strong as he would like... He will have exciting adventures in which he will learn to overcome fear and support others, be decisive and courageous, and unexpectedly for himself will find the most extraordinary friend.
An amazing fairy tale story illustrated with atmospheric drawings by Alexandra Liukkonen.
