The collection includes English, Scottish and Irish fairy tales. Two of them ("Lionel and the Magic Book" and "A Thousand Faithful Copies") are original: they were written by the recognized classic of children's literature Edith Nesbit.
Red-haired Mary will help the prince outwit the evil giant and at the same time arrange her personal life. The quick-witted boy Jamie will be able to deceive the insidious sorcerer Mr. Orrac. If you happen to be in the valley of Aherlow, you can make friends with the wonderful people - the Sids, and also with the kind little man Tiny Cap. In the "Magic Book", which was opened by the naughty and very curious King Lionel, there are not only beautiful butterflies, birds and a noble hippogriff, but also a cruel and stupid Dragon, who will cause a lot of trouble in the kingdom. The tiny hedgehog will first save from death, and then rescue the beautiful princess from terrible trouble, and at the same time he himself will turn into a stately prince, and then the wedding is not far away.
The tales are retold with grace and light irony by Grigory Kruzhkov, an expert in English-language poetry and literature. Each tale is accompanied by a nursery rhyme with a funny micro-plot. The absolutely “British” illustrations created by the artist Irina Gavrilova add a special appeal to the book.
Adults will read the book aloud to the little ones and enjoy it themselves. Older children will not be able to tear themselves away from the tales until they have read them all, one after another.
