In one old house lived a ghost named Rattle. In spring and summer, the owners came from the city - Mr. and Mrs. Parker and their twins - Polly and Patrick. Rattle did everything so that people would not get bored. He had a special inventory - a rattler - a chain, copper ladles, a kettle, a frying pan, forks and spoons. He rattled them according to all the rules of ghost art. And in winter, when people left, a mouse named Mousey came to live with Rattle. He cooked macaroni and cheese and other goodies for her. And in the evenings they played checkers. Rattle lived well in the old house and nothing foreshadowed that big changes awaited him ahead. And in order to prove his usefulness, save his house and save the foundling ghost, whom someone once left on the porch, he had to show ingenuity and character. Stories about a good-natured ghost have been read all over the world for more than half a century. They were written by American writer Jane Thayer. And the artist Seymour Fleischman drew them.
