A witch flies across the sky on a broomstick and drops her cap, magic wand and bow from her red braid on the ground. A dog, a bird and a frog find all of this in turn and ask to be given a ride on the broomstick as a reward for their service, which the witch willingly does. But the broomstick breaks: the cat, the dog and the frog fall into a swamp, and the witch falls into the clutches of a dragon; he is about to eat the witch for dinner, when suddenly a terrible, menacing beast appears - a monster of the swamps - and demands that the witch be given to him... Where did the dog, the cat and the frog disappear to? What happened to the bird and what will happen to the witch now?
