Dad calls Maya to bed, but she still has so much to do! And why does she have to go to bed every night? It’s so boring! It’s much more interesting, for example, to sleep upside down, clinging to a tree branch, like a bat. Or in a shell, like a snail: you can climb into the house on your back at any second and sleep for a day or two. How comfortable! Or sleep in the ocean with your eyes open, like a shark. You swim - and sleep! Or lying on your back, like an otter, surrounded by all your relatives and holding onto each other with their paws. Beauty! Or like a walrus, who falls asleep anywhere and in any position. Or like a bear, who sleeps all winter and does not know what cold, snow and wind are. But in the summer he sleeps little. Isn’t that great? And Maya decides to try! But in the end she realizes that she does not want to sleep in frozen silt, like a frog. And standing like a zebra, she can't sleep. She needs more sleep than a giraffe, but less than a bear. After trying everything, she remembers her warm bed and decides that she'd rather sleep like a baby!

There aren't many books about animals in children's literature that tell how different representatives of the animal world sleep. Following Maya, the child will learn about the "sleeping habits" of a bat, snail, shark, otter, bear, giraffe, zebra, walrus, duck, ferret, frog... and a human!

The book "Sleep Like a Shark" is created by the young Swedish writer Lisa Ragvals in a creative union with the famous Swedish artist Emma Jotner, whose experience in animation helps her to create cheerful and lively book illustrations. This book is a wonderful bedtime read, as well as a great opportunity to present facts about wildlife to a small child in an entertaining way.
