The collection "Bruno the Bear in the Forest" continues the series of educational picture books created by the famous Swedish writer and illustrator Gunilla Ingves. The book includes two stories: "Bruno the Bear and the Ants" and "Bruno the Bear, Akke the Frog and the Little Pond Dwellers".
In the first story, Bruno the bear is walking through the forest, where he meets Eric the ant, who invites the bear to come to his home, to the anthill. The inquisitive bear can make himself very small whenever he wants. How? That's his secret! Having become the size of an ant, the bear dives into one of the passages of the anthill and learns about the life of a large ant community. Eric shows him the chambers of the queen, who lays an egg before the bear's eyes. Bruno is trusted to take the egg to the egg room, then he ends up in a nursery for larvae, then goes to the pupae room, where he accidentally ends up in a cocoon himself. The bear is very interested in all this, but then his friend, the dog Lolla, comes running after him. Together they go to watch how the ants graze aphids and get sweet syrup. The bear carefully writes down his observations in a diary. Mishka's notes and drawings take up four pages: a section of an anthill, ant "professions", ant food, their friends and enemies, as well as other interesting information about the life of ants.
In the second story, Bruno the bear goes to a pond and meets a tadpole named Akke, who teaches the bear to swim and dive. At the bottom of the pond, the friends help a caddisfly larva fix its house and barely escape from a huge dragonfly larva. Suddenly, the bear notices that Akke has lost his tail and turned into a frog. In the evening, they sit on a water lily leaf and see a dragonfly larva emerge from the water and throw off its shell. In the morning, the dragonfly spreads its wings and soars into the air. The bear writes down everything he managed to see and learn during this walk in his diary. Four pages are full of his notes and drawings: Akke's life cycle from egg to adult frog, the enemies of frogs, as well as insects and other creatures that he saw in the pond.
