The poems of the classic of children's literature Irina Pivovarova have enjoyed the deserved love of young readers for more than half a century. The new edition of the works of the outstanding poetess covers all of her most famous children's poems, and this collection was designed by Svetlana Korotkova , a multiple winner of the "Image of the Book" award, which is awarded to the best works of illustrators. Quiet and sonorous, joyful and lyrical, Korotkova's illustrations harmoniously combine with the kind and wise lines of Pivovarova, which have become an integral part of a happy childhood.
"I'll tell you a secret," he promises. Irina Pivovarova in one of her poems. And, rest assured, she will fulfill this promise. From the book "Wreath of Bells" the child learns how a bird rehearsal goes, why a firefly glows, how the moon turned into the moon, why the old ladder can’t sleep, what is born at night and what happened in the morning... and there are so many other interesting and amazing things happening around us!
Pivovarova possessed the ability to see the interesting and surprising, which is so necessary for a children's poet, and she owed this ability not least to her artistic nature. Boris Zakhoder noted this ability: "She has - I would like to use an old-fashioned definition - "a nice gift". Gentle humor, imagination, a good sense of words and observation, one could say - purely feminine, if she did not have other roots: Irina is an artist by education, and she often illustrates her own books."
Irina Pivovarova formulated her recipe for good children's poems as follows: "A children's poem is necessarily strict, clear logic, the simplest words and certainly at least a small discovery! You kind of reveal to the child the little secrets of the big world and are surprised and happy together with him." But that's not all - in addition, a children's poet needs to be in a certain mood when starting to write poems. "You can't write them without being in a state of joyful excitement, elation, festivity."
