One of Remarque's most famous novels, twice filmed - the first film adaptation, with Ingrid Bergman and Charles Boyer, entered the golden fund of world cinema, and in the second, the main role was played by Anthony Hopkins himself. The action takes place in Paris on the eve of World War II, which does not understand the impending danger. The hero is a surgeon who saves human lives, a refugee from Germany, without documents, hiding from both the French and the Nazis. The heroine is an Italian actress, surrounded by admirers, irresistible and hot-tempered, like all actors. This is a story of love in spite of everything, love, although causing pain, but also giving endless joy.
