"Heart of a Dog" is one of the most famous and memorable works by Mikhail Bulgakov. With inimitable sarcasm and humor, Bulgakov described the unprecedented risky experiment of Professor Preobrazhensky to turn a dog into a human, creating a magnificent parody of the paradoxical situation of Soviet Russia in the 1930s. The cruel experiment in breeding a new "breed" of people shows that one cannot experiment with nature and change God's Providence to suit political goals with impunity. The offspring of such experiments are capable of destroying their creators.
The collection also includes other satirical works: “The Crimson Island”, “The Diaboliad”, “The Fatal Eggs”.
