How does a beacon work?
How does a beacon work?
Lighthouses are some of the most ancient engineering structures on earth. Over the many millennia that lighthouses have been helping ships overcome dangers, they have become one of the most popular symbols of hope. Poems and songs are written about lighthouses, artists draw them. And everyone, adults and children, dream of visiting a real lighthouse at least once to find out how it works and how people live there. Artist Roman Belyaev grew up and lives far from the sea, in Moscow. But he loves lighthouses very much. He came up with a book in which he told all the most interesting things about them.
